Commercial and Property Team 

Our commercial and property team is a small and hardworking team of friendly and supportive lawyers and support staff. We undertake a strong cross section of work across a diverse range of clients and industries.

We are looking to grow and expand this section by the acquisition of key people with strong professional skills, great work ethos and the ability to work within a team environment.

We have 3 current vacancies in our commercial and property team.

Employment Lawyer

A position exists for an employment /industrial relations lawyer to provide services to a diverse corporate client base of employers in the private and public sector. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years PAE sound experience in this area of law from a reputable larger employment practice and be looking to relocate and to grow and develop their skills and experience in a mid-tier firm environment. The existing clients are across a wide range of industries and there will be an interesting and varied mix of work on offer including:

  • Drafting employment and contractor agreements
  • Dismissal applications
  • General protection matters
  • Work health and safety matters
  • Discrimination

You will be mentored and work closely with highly regarded senior lawyers and partners in the corporate and commercial team.

This role offers a realistic opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to develop their areas of interest and be remunerated competitively.

Town Planning and Property Development Lawyer

We are seeking a planning and environment lawyer to work with our commercial and property department on predominantly front-end matters.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years PAE with an established and reputable Queensland (Brisbane) law firm and have strong experience in local government, planning and environment matters.

The work will involve advising on planning developments, resumptions and appeals and environmental matters.

You will be mentored and work closely with highly regarded senior lawyers and partners in the corporate and commercial team.

Litigation and Commercial Paralegal 

We are offering a role for an experienced paralegal with at least 3 years’ experience as a commercial and litigation paralegal in a similar role within a reputable Queensland law firm.

Experience in corporate and property law will be an advantage but is not essential.     This fantastic role will see you providing high-level support to Special Counsel in the corporate and commercial team and with duties ranging from general secretarial tasks to preparing briefs for Counsel, file management and co-ordination of work flow, to drafting court and legal documentation.

It is imperative you are able to work independently but within a team, be responsible and have exceptional attention to detail, with good time management skills.

Litigation Team

Due to the expansion of our litigation practice in Brisbane the exciting full-time opportunities now exist for a legal secretary and an executive assistant to a partner.

Construction Lawyer

We are currently seeking a mid-level construction lawyer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 5 years PAE from across a broad range of building and construction matters, including dispute resolution and litigation, gained in a reputable commercial firm or a government department.

In order to be considered for the role you must:

    • Demonstrate a well-developed working knowledge and understanding of security of payment legislation and Australian standard construction contracts;
    • Be passionate to pursue a career as a construction lawyer and be willing to continuously build a strong professional network and good reputation within the industry and local community;
    • Be client focused and results driven;
    • Have a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail with proven exceptional written and oral communication skills;
    • Be prepared to assist and support the senior lawyers in a wide range of marketing and business development campaigns;
    • Have intermediate to advance level proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Executive Assistant

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assisting the Partner with legal and personal matters, as well as general office responsibilities;
  • Reviewing and distributing incoming correspondence to ensure critical milestones are met;
  • Preparing and generating a variety of documents, including correspondence, memorandums, minutes of the meetings, invoices, reports and presentations;
  • Client liaison and business development;
  • Managing diaries and travel;
  • Management and booking of training sessions and seminars;
  • Liaising with team members and assisting with delegation of the partner’s directions;
  • Providing support to different aspects of the business; and
  • General office housekeeping, maintaining filing systems and tidiness.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in a similar position in the legal firm or other professional services firm;
  • Exceptional presentation;
  • Well-developed organisational and administration skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Outstanding client service skills;
  • Proven time management and ability to work autonomously;
  • A proactive and energetic approach to work;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to transcribe dictations in fast and accurate manner;
  • Knowledge of LexisNexis Affinity software is an advantage.

Legal Secretary

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assisting a team of lawyers with legal matters and business development activities;
  • Preparation of legal documents, including correspondence, contracts, court documents, reports and presentations;
  • Preparation of briefs;
  • High volume diary, file and matter management;
  • Client liaison and coordination of meetings and conferences;
  • Preparation of billing and end of month reports;
  • Office administration support

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated skills in providing first class support to a busy litigation practice;
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated approach, excellent time management skills and well-developed attention to detail;
  • High level typing and transcribing skills;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Advanced administrative and secretarial skills;
  • Experience in a similar position in the legal firm or other professional services firm (highly regarded);
  • Knowledge of LexisNexis Affinity software is an advantage;
  • Experience in commercial litigation (highly regarded)
