Clients charged with Trafficking in Cannabis found with 20kg Cannabis and $1.2 million cash granted bail

Tyronne Thomas and Nicholas Crawford of our office appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court in June 2018 in relation to two clients recently charged with trafficking in cannabis. In addition to the trafficking charge, they were located with over 20kg of cannabis and $1.2 million cash.

It is alleged that they have been trafficking for a period of approximately 14 years.

The prosecution objected to our client’s bail, stating that they were a flight risk due to their unlimited access to money from their trafficking network.

Both Tyronne and Nicholas pointed out that their clients were not in a show-cause position and that the presumption is they should get bail. After lengthy submissions, they were able to persuade the Magistrate to grant them bail with conditions.

Considering the amount of money located and the strength of the evidence against our clients, this was an excellent result for them. They will now have the benefit of being on bail while their matter proceeds through the courts.
